Dear DCPS staff,

I am Halima Adams with the Office of Community Partnerships and would like to pass along an exciting internship opportunity in Anguilla for three DCPS high school students. The Anguilla Tourist Board is organizing a two-week fully-funded internship program focusing on hotel management, financial management or tennis skills development  in July 2009.  Attached is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet including a program summary, program logistics and a link to the online Google application.

Eligible students must be currently enrolled in a DCPS high school, between the ages of 16 to 18 (preferably incoming juniors and seniors); have at least a 3.0 GPA; demonstrated interest in hotel management or tourism, financial advising or tennis; and exhibited leadership skills, interest in cross-cultural learning.

Kindly pass this opportunity along to your students, guidance counselors, student organization representatives, tennis coaches and staff so students may apply for this excellent education abroad and professional development opportunity. I will follow up with each of you to address any questions or concerns from you or your staff. Students and parents are encouraged to contact me directly if they have any questions regarding the application or program.

The program application deadline is Thursday, June 4, 2009.  Please see the full application HERE.
Many thanks in advance for all your support with this,
Halima

Speaker Opportunities

Would you like to be a speaker at an AAGG meeting?

AAGG receives a number of speaking requests throughout the year, and in order to provide the requested speaking support the Speakers Bureau needs genealogy speakers. The Speakers’ Bureau is a volunteer-driven service to promote genealogical research in the African American community. If you are interested in being a speaker for the Speakers’ Bureau, please contact send an e-mail to: info@aagg.org.
